New Year 7 Pupil Area

New Year 7 Pupil Area

Dear Y6 students,

I hope you are all safe and well. We are living through history right now and we will be able to look back on this time when you start in Year 7. You are part of the Shire Oak Academy family now and it would be great if you could share your experiences with us now or when you start in September.

In the coming weeks key information will be posted on this website and we will update you and your family with transition details. Please do not worry, we will do our very best to make this as smooth as possible for you in these difficult circumstances.

Please email any queries to [email protected]

I look forward to meeting you all.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Re:  Incoming Year 7 – September 2020

As promised in the previous letter you received, we can now give you some details of what will happen in September.

Thursday 3rd September 2020

All year 7 students should arrive at 9.10am and enter through the St Marks Road gate. They will be met by staff and directed to their form room in the Mercia Building. They will spend the day with their form teacher working on the activities designed to help them get to know the other pupils in their form, their form tutor and become familiar with life at Shire Oak. PE kit is not required on this day.

Students will receive a free hot lunch in our canteen but they are welcome to bring their own packed lunch.

The day will end at 3.10pm

Friday 4th  September

Students should arrive at 9.10am and go to their form rooms using the same route as they did yesterday. Once again, staff will meet and direct them. Students will follow a programme of induction activities, students do not require their PE kit on this day. They will remain in their form groups and be supervised by their form tutors.

The cashless catering system arrangements will be carried out on this day and pupils should bring some money with them to load onto the system once this is done. We suggest about £3.00. Students who are entitled to free school meals will need only to register by having their finger scanned.

The day will end at 3.10pm

From Monday 7th:

The plan is that students will follow a programme of lessons and carry out various assessments. These will ultimately determine which sets they should be placed in for various subjects. Until these assessments have been completed, pupils will be taught as a form. Please tell your child not to worry about this. Everything will be explained. Should this plan change then, rest assured, you will be notified.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call me on 07887942193.

I look forward to seeing your child in September.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C Smith

Pastoral Manager

Instrumental tuition:
Message for parents/guardians of Year 7 students from September 2020

At Shire Oak we are very proud of the instrumental tuition that we provide for our young musicians. We have a number of very experienced visiting teachers who provide this service every week and we currently have a record amount of students signed up for instrumental lessons.

Usually at this time of year you would receive a letter in your induction pack which explains the services that we offer but due to the unprecedented circumstances we are currently waiting until we are given more guidance on 1-2-1 lessons.

There will be more information sent out from early September but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mr Musa on [email protected]

Crested Schoolwear is open from 9.30am Monday 15th June conforming to government guidelines with a queueing and one way system. From 1st July it has extended opening hours.

Clive Mark schoolwear is operating an appointment booking service from 18th June 2020.

Dear Parents / Carers of current year 6 pupils,

We are all looking forward to seeing you and your children when school starts again in September but, before then, we may have things we would like to contact you about – such as our second Day with a Difference. We have found that emails are a great way to contact groups of people. You may have completed and sent in our information packs which do contain your email addresses but we won’t be able to see those until September.

With this in mind, and only if you are agreeable, please could you possibly complete this document.

Thank you
