Faculty Of Language
Within the faculty for Languages at Shire Oak Academy, we encompass a wide range of subjects, sharing a common goal to enhance our students’ experience of an enriched curriculum. At the heart of the faculty is a desire to help all students achieve. Whether that is during drama lessons, allowing students to adopt different personas, developing their confidence and gaining a greater insight into the texts, plus skills they will experience in English. Or through Film + Media Studies, where they can reflect upon how these industries extract specific responses to their products and use gained knowledge to create their own film and media materials. All aspects of the faculty will aid students’ abilities to communicate and at Shire Oak Academy, students study French and Spanish to learn the valued life skill of speaking and understanding an additional language. Complementing all these elements is English, consisting of language and literature. These subjects focus on a love of reading not only fiction texts, but also appreciating information texts to strengthen students’ analytical abilities and equipping students with vital life skills of producing appropriate and accurate written work, enabling them to succeed during their time at the academy and future life endeavours.
