Subject Overview

Business subjects provide students with the  opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the dynamic world of business together with an  understanding of the benefits and challenges facing entrepreneurs who manage and operate business organisations.

WJEC Level 2 Retail Business 

This vocational course introduces students  to one of the most important employment sectors in the UK. Students  will explore various aspects of retail businesses and investigate a range of physical stores and online retailers such as JD Sports, Next, Amazon, Apple, Selfridges and John Lewis as well as independent and virtual stores. This course will enable students  to understand why businesses operate in the way they do to attract customers to sell their products or services in order to make a profit and expand nationally and globally.

BTEC Level 3 Business

This vocational course is delivered through 4 units. The first unit focuses on the environment all businesses operate in both nationally and internationally. STudents will study a large well known business such as a football club or a popular retail or manufacturing business. Students will also explore how the business environment impacts on business operations. The second unit is related to planning marketing campaign, in this unit students will plan a dynamic and engaging marketing campaign for a growing business. The third unit is related to personal and business finance, in this unit students will learn how businesses manage their finances such as profit and loss, budgeting and cash flow forecasting. In the final unit students will discover how selection and recruitment of staff is a very important process to successful business organisations.
